* * * About Me / This Blog.

My Info is below, 1st here’s a  Quick Update !

Direct Line for info on the Kidney Donor Process, contact the BC Transplant (Donor Line)  @ 604-806-9027 or 604-806-9944. Give my name . You”ll probably need your Prov. Health Card #. If your outside Canada you”ll need mine, call me.   You can also click the links on the right or Click This for a quick read on being a donor .

The above was a very difficult paragraph for me to write. It bothers me even to ask if I can borrow tools or for help.  Seriously ! . It’s how my Wife and Son will be hugely impacted by my future with Polycistic Kidney that enabled me to write that.   Yah, I’m Messed Up,   I know that already, but I now see that it’s Not “A Cross I Have To Carry”  and I DO see how Transplant is definately the way to go for all involved.

This is  My 1st Blog enty . . .” This is my thinking out loud / education process on POLYCYSTIC KIDNEY DISEASE, ( PKD ). I “stuck” this post to the top of this Blog, in case someone new see’s it , maybe this can help someone someday.     This is just my take on things “! !

In a Nutshell :

I have known I had Polyscystic Kidneys for the last 25 yrs ( its a hereditary thing ).  Oct. of 2008 I found out my Kidneys are in stage 4 of the 5 stage failure program,    Basically my Kidneys are functioning at about 22 % of normal.   Failure to the point of needing Dialysis or Transplant ( 15 % function ) is estimated between 1 – 2 years, with the possibility of a bad Flu etc taking them out at any time.

So I figured I’d start jotting down my thoughts, health notes and self education on Kidneys and Transplant info in one place.   For my benefit and a reference place for others.

Hi. I also found out in October that I needed to start preparing for dialysis. In December I got the tenchoff catheter placement for peritoneal dialysis. I just finished my training and today was my first official day doing it at home on my own. I will keep up with your progress. (I am married, 42, with 2 little boys ages 6 and 8)
