Kidney Update

Was at the renal unit before Christmas Holidays.  Creatinine Level was up.  My Kidney Function had dropped to 19 % ( they’re not to concerned with a 1 % drop unless it turns into a downward trend.

I was put on more Kidney assisting Vitamins and als have to take TUMS with every meal to act as a Phosphate Binder to lower my phosphate levels. 

Also found out I wont be scheduled for a transplant until my function drops to Under 15 %, even if I have a match ready to go.

I basically totally abandoned my Kidney Friendly diet over Christmas, I didn’t notice any major changes, other than being more itchy all over. I’ll have to find out if that’s because of the diet or just bad luck.  I’ve been moisturizing lots now which seems to help.     Leg Cramps have not been to bad lately, although I feel my hamstrings “quiver and tense” while I’m sitting sometimes, but moving my legs seems to cancel it quickly.

All in all things are fairly stable on the kidney front. I’ll be watching my eating a lot more as well.

So the holidays are done. We had family with us over Christmas and that was great. Very few “Christmas Vacation” Moments occured.  We went skiing at Big White and to a Rockets Hockey Game, 3 brave souls did the polar bear swim ( I was on the sick / injury list so I couldn’t partake this year ). 

New Years Nite was very quiet for us, watched a movie, powned RockBand 2 then asleep by 11pm as all our company was gone by then.

Looking forward to an exciting 2009 ! !
