Another Plus, and 2 more symptoms.

Well I’ve been putting on lots of lotion to help combat “the itchies” , seems to be working somewhat, ( thanks for your comments on types of lotions, I’ve tried 3 different ones ),  So the PLUS is my fingertips are not cracked and bleeding like they have been in the past few winters, man cracked finger skin  can be painful.

2 new Symptoms : I’ve been experiencing a bit of low grade nausea, just a bit in the background on and off throughout the day, also low grade headaches on and off.  2 More  ”Symptom” to check off on my Kidney Failure Bingo Card,  Looks like I’ll have my card blacked out sooner than later,  Yeah I’m a winner !

The ol roller coaster ride is getting funkier all the time, but hey it could be worse,      I could be a LEAFs fan too.  { I wanted to say another team but didnt want to offend a gung ho donor going through kidney match testing now   }

Where should we put the new kidney ?

 

When you get a transplanted kidney, they just fit it in somewhere and leave the old wrecks in there ( unless they’re so large from cysts that they need to be pulled ).  Here’s a pic of placement of a new kidney, its kinda cool.  new kidney is on the lower left of the pic.

Bloodwork results back, Good News ?

The results are in,  I’m much closer to getting a transplant that I was in December.

Here’s a copy / paste of the results email.    I’ve inserted a couple things in brackets below.

” Your bloodwork shows a further decline in kidney function. Your GFR is sitting at 16 mls/min { = 16 % Kidney Function } with Creatinine level of 377 {  1 month ago it was 310, this is a new personal best (worst) for me in a 1 month period }.  Your potassium is slightly elevated @ 5.2.  Your Uric acid is also high. Be sure NOT to get dehydrated while away and watch your potassium intake. Please bloodwork done ASAP upon return. “

So where’s the Good News.  Well in December it looked like I would be several months away from the 15 % level needed to scramble the jets ( meaning book me a transplant slot, if I had a donor ready to go. )     So with the 4 % kidney function drop in 1 month I’m almost sick enough to justify a transplant.   And more good news, I will graduate to Stage 5 of Final Stage of Kidney failure 15% - 0% .  No cap or ceremony though   .       And I’m also really close to Dialysis time ( under 15 % function ).   That will open up a whole new world of experiences for me / us.

To put some kind of positive spin on this ;  I’m Closer to Transplant, from my end ! ,   I graduated,    I will probably get to learn some sweet new skills and party tricks with the Peritoneal Dialysis.

A Comment from My Wifey

My wife posted this comment a couple days ago :

Lately, yellow eyes and sallow skin, with a general overall tired and unhealthy look to you. A new Kidney will sure be nice !!! “      She’s full of complements eh ! , maybe I’m going for the EMO look, sheesh !

She See’s what I miss, although I did ask her yesterday, ” have I been looking like crap lately, cause I kinda feel like Crap the last few days”.

To somewhat counter the tired crappy issue I’m planning on changing my work hours so I get an extra hour of Sleeping,  8 – 4  ( from 7 – 3 ), we’ll see if that helps.

Once again, I could be a whole lot worse off, so no worries, we’ll just take it as it comes and Roll with the Punches ! “

Frickin Itching ! ! !

So this itching sucks, it’s been getting worse the last 3 weeks.  Been using “George’s” thick moisturizing cream, helps some. It seems I’m almost constantly scratching or moving my clothes over my skin somewhere.  Oh well, It could be a lot worse.

The Cramping in my feet and hands is picking up a bit, but I can usually catch it early and work it out quick.  Once again, It could be a lot worse.

I’ve been watching my diet a lot more since Christmas is done, I’ll have to keep an eye on that.  I wasn’t watching it much over Christmas, I wonder if that’s why the itchy’s increased, I’ll be asking the doc next week.

Went for my monthly Bloodwork today, should have results on Wed.
